Sportsman's Advocate Network (S.A.N.)
The Federation's long-range conservation efforts include a program called Sportsman's Advocate Network (S.A.N.) comprised of members, non-members, residents and non-residents. This grassroots program gives concerned citizens an opportunity to voice their positions and have a direct impact on wildlife, land, water, recreation, and natural resource issues - directly from their own home.
Levels of Commitment for S.A.N.
Wildlife Sentry
Sentries write one letter each month (maximum), or make one phone call each month (maximum) to responsible decision makers. Sentries are informed through the Special Action News Alerts that detail the issue and to whom they should write or call. As a 'Wildlife Sentry' you join the elite group of conservationists, sportsmen, and sportswomen who play a pivotal role in supporting, challenging and influencing critical decisions about wildlife issues throughout Montana.
Wildlife Phonetree
The Wildlife Phonetree (Montana residents Only) is a quick response network that has 27 Phonetrees active within 17 key communities throughout Montana. Phonetrees may be triggered within 24-72 hours of our decision to engage an issue, or to suddenly increase public participation. Phonetree members are asked to make 2-3 phone calls during each activation. When you join our Phonetree, you become a vocal partner of the Sportsman's Advocate Network working to conserve our wildlife and wildlife habitat.
Wildlife Sentry E-Mail Activist
The E-Mail Sentry program - one of the first in the country - is designed for those members who are willing to combine their computer abilities with their concern for wildlife, habitat, and outdoor sporting issues. Members receive E-Mail Action Alerts with a description of the issue, a list of who to call, write or E-mail. Become one of our E-Mail Sentries and take part in our computerized quick response team. Express your concerns about the current and future needs of our wildlife.
